Associate Professor Joseph Podlesnik teaches in AiPOD’s Art Foundations Department. He holds a BFA in drawing and painting from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and an MFA in drawing and painting from Cornell University.
From 2007-2008, he served as coordinator of the Drawing Learning Center for AiPOD. Joseph has taught sophomore painting at the University of the Arts (Philadelphia), lectured in drawing at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, served as Visiting Professor of Art at Cornell University and, since 1993, has been an Adjunct Professor of Art at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey (for which he developed in 2006, and has been teaching, a general integration and synthesis seminar course titled The Image and the Eye). In addition, he is an Adjunct Art Lecturer at Paradise Valley Community College in Phoenix, AZ.
Joseph is also a practicing artist, working with various drawing media. Most recently, he has taken up digital photography, exhibiting in several photographic venues during the past two years; he has an interest in digital cinema as well.
He has had work published in: The North American Review and Foundations of Design by Jeff Davis. He has two books due to be released this fall: Foundations of Drawing and Phoenix: Pattern and Place, a collection of photographs curated by filmmaker Jon Jost.
Joseph lives in Phoenix, Arizona with his wife Ami and son Michael.
